Xcaret Park Review – The Ultimate Guide to Xcaret Park in Mexico
The iconic Xcaret Park in Mexico is the eco-friendly waterpark and jungle nature paradise that started it all. Xcaret Park is located in the Riviera Maya, near Cancun Mexico in Quintana Roo. This beautiful timeless waterpark brings in millions of guests every year who want to live, enjoy and experience a piece of the Mayan paradise.
This is the park that started it all for Grupo Xcaret, gaining popularity with visitors all across the world. Xcaret park is known for displaying all the magic of the Mexican culture along with the history, and natural ecological landscape. There is truly something for everyone in this park, and it is designed for visitors of all ages.
This was one of Groupo Xcaret’s first parks, before they built Hotel Xcaret Mexico or Xcaret Arte and considered the “classic OG” of all the different Xcaret parks in their lineup. It is also one of the largest and most diversified parks with many things to do.
What is Xcaret Park? A Review of What to Expect
Xcaret Park includes over 50 eco-friendly attractions. Everything from underground caves, cenotes, zip-lining, nature walks, animal and dolphin shows, exploration towers and a beautiful Butterfly Pavilion are just some of things you can come to expect at your day at Xcaret Park in Mexico. Some people consider it the Mexico version of “Disney World” and in many ways it is – but it takes place in a serene all natural setting.
Transportation
Transportation to and from the parks is included for those guests staying at either Xcaret Mexico or Xcaret Arte resorts. In fact, it is right on Xcaret property and is only about a 10-minute bus ride from one of the Xcaret resorts.
For others that are not staying on property, transportation can be arranged through your hotel or resort, or by booking an excursion that includes transportation on Viator.
Review of the River Swim at Xcaret Mexico
One of my favorite attractions at Xcaret Mexico is their river swim attraction that consists of a fully natural system of cenotes that run like a river through various elements.
It can take upwards of a half hour to swim through the entire natural river system. You will be given life vests as well for safety at the beginning by the entrance of the attraction.
In addition, there are lockers you can place your personal belongings in prior to getting in the water, and they even offer a complementary service that allows you to place your items in a duffel bag and the Xcaret employees will load the bags up in a truck and drive it to the exit for you to pick up upon the end of the river cenote. This is extremely helpful and convenient.
The river seems to take a circular or semi-circular shape and loops around the perimeter of the park. You will have the opportunity to visit both underground caves through various river cenotes that begins in a natural waterfall and runs through both above ground and below ground environments.
You will also have ample opportunity to take photos at various points during the expedition as well, as Xcaret has set up cameras in precise locations that takes pictures by scanning only your wrist band. This eliminates the need for taking your camera with you.
Xcaret Mexico Park Review of the Espectacular Show
The Xcaret México Espectacular is one of the must-do’s on your bucket list if you are planning to visit Xcaret park. The show at Xcaret Park normally starts at 7:00 p.m. every night and lasts for about 2 hours.
It is a wonderful display of Mayan culture, dance and music that get it’s inspiration from the ancient Mayan roots and rituals. On display, you will notice many unique Mayan-inspired costume worn by the performers, and it is quite the spectacle.
There is even an option to have a dinner and show combination for an extra fee which is not included with the price of admission to the park. Those staying at one of the Hotel Xcaret Mexico or Arte properties can
I recommend you don’t miss this show, as it is one of the highlights of the visit for many tourists who come to Xcaret Park.
Those staying at Xcaret’s La Playa de La Casa will get to enjoy an exclusive backstage tour of the show, with a exclusive access to the performers and a private section and dinner.
